Day one. (And no, I probably won't title each entry by day number.)

So here we go.  So much to do, and hopefully plenty of time to do it.  Provided we can stay on task and on track.  We suddenly became aware of just what we've gotten ourselves into this weekend.  It's been nice knowing all of you and we look forward to getting to know you all again in a few months.

Deb started trying to figure out how to go about refinishing the cabinets and I set out to remove that green carpet so I could figure out what we needed to do to secure the one or two floor boards that were kicking up.

Here is a reminder of the living room with carpet.  Fortunately for us, Uncle T.A. didn't want his hardwood floors hurt when they had the carpet put in and didn't let them put any tack strips down.

Here is what was left when we pulled it up.

That is padding stuck to those beautiful hardwoods.

Nothing a little elbow grease and flexible putty knife couldn't fix though.

And guess what!  That "board" that had kicked up?  It must have been some padding that had slid under another piece, because it was no where to be found when the carpet was gone.

Deb figured out really quick that I had bought her the wrong chemicals to refinish the cabinets with so a plan was made to make a Walmart run the next morning before we dug back in.
