Back splash!

Nancy came to town Friday night.  We met her at the high school so she could see Cole perform at halftime and then stayed up a little later than we should have but the visit was great!

Saturday morning we got started prepping to install the backsplash in the kitchen.  I realized I didn't have everything I would be needing so off to town I went.  When I got home, I found out David and Janis were on their way and their timing was impeccable.  They got there just as I was ready to start!

We started by laying out and cutting the first row of tile for the backsplash behind the cook top.  Once it was all cut and ready to stick to the wall, we mixed the mortar.

We weren't sure how long the mortar would take to dry out so we only went a couple of tiles at a time.  Turned out, this mixture and possibly the humidity was nearly perfect.  We got all but some of the small finishing strips of tile up on the initial thin set mix.  I had to mix a small amount up to finish it out.

Boy, don't I look serious about this!

The supervisors...  I have the best in-laws in the world.  Unlike a lot of people out there I truly love spending time with all of my in-laws.  I married well and so did my brother.

Nancy caught a nap with Dallas.  Or at least she tried to, Cole tends to get pretty worked up when the Razorbacks are playing.

All the tile is up and ready for grout.

And finally, the finished project.
